Fees and Policies
Therapy generally starts with an intake where I will ask you a wide range of questions. The intake means I am getting an idea of how I may be able to help. If it does not feel “right” for you or if I feel that I do not have the adequate skill set to assist you, I will provide a referral for you. This can also occur if your treatment needs change over time. During our work together I may also determine that secondary or adjunct treatment would be helpful (example: a physician, dietitian, or a body worker) in order to create a treatment team to support your treatment goals.
I generally believe that you get out of therapy the same amount as you put into it, so I often give homework to work on outside of the treatment hour. Weekly or bi-weekly appointments are typically the most helpful to promote therapeutic change. I typically do not offer therapy for less than 2x month. Keeping appointments and engaging in the work are often required for successful long-term outcomes.
Appointments are cancelled if client is more than 15 minutes late and will be charge at full fee. I will make exceptions if emergency emerges.
After intake, therapy sessions can range from 45 to 90 minutes. Agreements about payment are discussed prior to our first session and discussed more fully in the intake.
My fee structure is as follows:
90791 Individual Diagnostic Assessment, 60 minutes $160
90837 Individual Psychotherapy, 52 minutes, $150
90834 Individual Psychotherapy, 45 minutes, $140
90833 Individual Psychotherapy, 20-30 minute add on increment $50
90847 Family Psychotherapy, 60 minutes, $180
I am in-network with the Duke Student Insurance plan. Members of this plan are responsible for their copay ($25) at each session. For all other insurance, my services are reimbursable by health insurance as an “out-of-network” provider for all insurance panels except for managed care. Contact your health insurance company to inquire about your policy’s coverage for mental health services (reimbursement can be from 70% to 80% of my fee and it usually takes 5-6 weeks to receive a check). I operate on a fee-for-service model, meaning that I ask you to pay at the time of service. As a courtesy, I provide a “superbill” so clients can submit directly to their providers.
Payment can be made via cash, check, or credit card.
